Yarn handmade from kimono

Kimonoyarn is a handicraft material made by upcycling kimonos. Kimonos that would have been discarded are unstitched, washed, cut into 20mm widths, joined together, and wound into balls. Almost all of these processes are done by hand to create the yarn.
To date, we have transformed over 4,000 discarded kimonos into yarn.

The world of kimono, condensed into 20mm

From twisted threads, intricate embroidery, and varying weaves within a single kimono, to the discovery upon dismantling that each thread differs in thickness, color, and material – kimonos are packed with a wealth of techniques. Some of these techniques no longer exist today.
Please enjoy the charm of kimonos, condensed into just 20mm.
